Candidíase na gravidez

On
September 15, 2016

E cuidar. Cuidar muito das emoções.
Alimentar-me bem. Beber muitos líquidos. Limpar os açucares o máximo que conseguir. Procurar ajuda.

Serei todas essas coisas juntas?
Bom.

E a mudança é parte integrante do movimento.

What I learned during the last trimester of pregnancy:

When writing the word candidiasis I realize the shame I feel when speaking openly about the subject. (I don't know exactly why.)
However, according to what I've read, 70% of women at some point in their lives, will have thrush. And this is really important to demystify things and be able to talk openly about it.

To be silent about something only increases ignorance and secrecy about those issues and I feel like it would have been important that someone had shared with me what I am about to share with you here.

During pregnancy, with the huge hormonal changes, candidiasis is extremely common.

I have observed that most of the websites begins with a long description of this condition so I will not dwell there.
For me the most important thing was to first understand what solutions were within reach. Secondly what situation or situations/ emotions had caused it.

The body has a very particular way of expressing itself. And we have to listen carefully every sign that he gives us. Especially when it is something that happens from the inside out, I believe it is really important to try to understand the vulnerability that is alive at that time. What made me more fragile and open to it?

There are a number of books describing candidiasis as something sexual that may be associated with control issues and expectations. Expect something of the relationship, not to be giving enough or not be receiving what is expected. Others associate it to feelings of resentment... and so on.
I felt that none of this really helped me to heal.

I believe that whatever the way the body chooses to communicate itself needs deep compassion. Deep love. Deep patience. There is no point starting a healing process from a negative thought. A feeling of anxiety or guilt. The sensation that we did something wrong or that there is something wrong happening to me.

So what I have to say is just this: in case you had or have candidiasis at some point in your life look for your own reasons. They don't come inside any book.
Seek what is alive. What emerges. What hurts? What needs to be appeased?

Candidiasis lives of energy – like everything else in life.
And rather than trying to find "responsibilities", it is interesting to try to know better what that energy is.
It's about the base of the body. The root – our home. The place from which we create and build something.

On one hand this is important! On the other, understanding and accepting that despite all the discomforts the thrush is not an enemy. It's like a messenger.
If I take care of my house - my body and my spirit - it will disappear. You have to trust it. And take care. Take deep care of the emotions.
Eat well. Drink plenty of fluids. Clean the sugars out of your body as much as possible. Search for help. Allow pleasure without guilt – sleeping, eating, making love or be paused for a while. Open to any form of care that is important to yourself and have no doubt you deserve it.

I deserve the love and attention I'm giving myself.

In the Internet you can find everything else.
But for me the most important was bring this topic to the surface. Talk about it without fear. Freeing myself from the implied negative scene I read in almost all the posts...  create some breathing. Create space. Air!

It's okay (and I am not in denial)!
I really believe that the only thing we need is to listen to the symbolic and non-verbal body language and act accordingly with the story we tell ourselves!

What I mean by "story we tell ourselves"?!

All things are stories ... that each person listen, learn and build in one's own way. Change the story that I repeat inside myself is really hard, because I got used to it... so much that often I don't know exactly who I am.
I am what I experienced? I am what I am told that I am? I am all of these things together?
Well in fact this is not very important. It is important to understand what is the story (and this is a job for a lifetime, I believe).
However, it's like an invitation from the body. Through an illness or a conflict or even a deep desire to make it happen - we can try to change the story. Write a new one or add a different chapter.

The body invites the movement. And the change is an integral part of the movement.
We can choose not to move. But we can also choose to walk. Or dance.
And when you walk forward it is no longer possible to walk back. When you dance I would say that it is impossible to stand still.
Even if we look back, the very perspective of what we see changes with our walk.

So, knowing our story and understand it as a story and not as a weight that encumbers life is precious.

Today I feel much freer!
And I realized that in my case candidiasis was related to two particular moments when I accepted interventions in my body which I was not comfortable with. Saying No is also a job for a lifetime!

I am going to leave this thing of counting the weeks in England behind because while I am raising someone else the weeks go by without noticing. Making my days of ritual of beauty and connection is what is most important to me now!
