The power of intentions

On
May 22, 2018

Do meu caminho.

A intenção nunca deixa que eu me sinta perdida.

Whenever I start something new there is a thread that leads me back to my own margins - those sometimes unknown boundaries that in face of something new break down and take me to the ground.

This guiding thread is called: intention.

What is my intention, at work, in life, as mother and wife?
These intentions are in constant co-creation with reality, just as it unfolds. And sometimes they dissipate. Out of tiredness, discomfort, anger, frustration, impatience.

I return to my intentions every time I forget them. Because it is precisely in these moments that they have greater power.

All intentions serve their greater purpose when chaos manifests.
The mother I would like to be, the beliefs I have about my job, the woman I am, form a great tangle of contradictions and challenges. To find the light I turn to this strong structure - the Feeling that made me do everything in a certain way.

I don't believe we do things just for the purpose of doing them. I think we often do things without understanding why we do them. Just because sometimes the emotion is more present than the intention.
By this I do not mean that emotions shouldn't be expressed. What I mean is, I believe when I have an intention, everything unfolds to give it space. When life presents itself differently from what I have idealized, I can attune to that energy again. That is the energy of my soul. Of the path I have chosen.

The intention never lets me feel lost. I just need to be able to get back to it precisely when I do not know which way to turn.

What are the intentions that guide you?
What makes you come back to yourself?
And what happens when emotions take over?
I am very curious to know and learn from your experience.
Thank you! :)

Autoridade vs valor igual

No entanto, é bom saber o que me guia.

In a conversation with my mother I noticed that what has guided my mother in the past seems to be quite different from what guides me at this very moment.

And it was important for me to be clear, on this trip of motherhood, of what exactly guides me. In what direction I want to go. Despite all the luggage I bring from my parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts and even friends.

Today I know that as a mother my intention is to be a safe haven.

I do not want to prepare Eva for life because I do not know what Life she is supposed to live. I do not want to educate her with rigidity and authority because I want my relationship with her to be flexible, tolerant, compassionate, open.
As a mother I want to be able to relate to and connect with my daughter. I want us to learn how to communicate. I want her to be exactly the person she needs to be. And that I may also be exactly the person I am. I want to build mutual respect by respecting her and learning from it.

Eva has the same value as a person as me.
What she thinks and feels and wants has the same value as what I think, feel and want.

So what I can give her at this time when she still needs both attention and care is to provide her freedom with direction. So that she can understand and express what she wants even if she wants things that are very different from what I want.

For these reasons, when someone tells me, "she can not do only what she wants." I really struggle to understand what this means ...
And I wonder, does it mean that she should do what I want?

Consequently it is important to stop and think:
What would that serve me for?
Could it be that if I had more authority, I would feel stronger and more capable?
And how would she feel with this?
What kind of an adult will she be if I worry more about being right than observe what is alive inside her?

Mikaela Oven often asks: Do we want our children to be obedient adults? Or do we want them to have their own opinions and critical sense?

One day my daughter will grow up and will continue to need once in a while as I need my parents yet so many times. How good it will be that she never doubts that I am her Mother forever. That I accept her without judgment, blackmail, manipulations. That I tell her No only when I really can not say Yes. That I will apologize and hug her even when I get angry ... because I realize that not every time I get angry I'm angry with her.

In day-to-day practice I often miss out on this and often loose my patience. I had screamed at her many times and said No many times when I could just let things go and say "yes." However, it is good to know what guides me. It's good to have an intention!
And this is a daily awareness. A constant work for all my life that I wish to do with her and with myself.

Amar

Amar!

A-Mar.

Vamos todos atravessar as águas!

To love (In portuguese we say AMAR and if we separate the first letter "A" from "mar" we have a different meaning. "Mar" means sea!)

It seems like we are saying "Lets all go to the sea".

Lets all cross the waters.

In the water there's no boundaries. We can't touch the ground. There's no escape board that we can hang to.

We can everything. We can't nothing. (nothing at all).

I rather not to listen to rules when we talk about love.

Or reasons!

About attachement or detachment.

About duty.

About Needing to Be someway.

I believe that we love or we don't love. We are ready to get in the ocean or we are not.

And when we are at the deep ocean is certain that we must be ready to loose everything.

There we learn that the meaning of words are also defined by millions of years. Millions of stories. By family, tradition and also the internet.

Loosing everything can be earning everything. To be empty can be to be full...

Love is everything we want it to be!

I build the meaning of the words I use.
Today this is my prayer.

I shared this text a while ago.

Me and Bruno went through many seas and ties to be here where we are now.

5 years after we started we still put everything in check every time we have a hard conflict. We still question what we feel when other things catch our eye or when we are tired and hopeless about our path together.

It's not ideal. It's not perfect.
But is one day after another. Lived with consciousness and presence.
And Yes, that is very beautiful!
