A teia

#Terceira semana em Inglaterra

A semana passada montei a teia no tear novo pela primeira vez e percebi a primeira lição da tecelagem:

– A teia tem sempre razão!

Já não tecia há muito tempo e não tenho ainda muita experiência com a tecelagem para fazer tudo sem cometer aqueles pequenos erros de principiante.
Montei a teia e claro, à medida que o trabalho se foi desenvolvendo, foram aparecendo falhas e acabei por decidir fazer tudo de novo.

No entanto, aqui fica o resultado desta primeira tentativa. E da lã que sobrou pelo caminho.

A teia é a estrutura.
Quando olhamos para uma peça tecida à mão, o que salta à vista é a trama… as cores, os padrões, a forma. Mas nada disso é possível de acontecer, se a estrutura estiver errada.

Nota para mim mesma: Cuida da estrutura, o resto vem a seguir! :)

#Third week in UK

Last week I put the warp on my new loom for the first time and understood the first lesson of weaving:

– The warp is always right!

I didn't wove for a while and I don't have that much of experience with weaving to do everything without those little errors of a beginner.
I  set up my warp and of course as the work was developing small errors started to appear so I just decided to do everything all over again.

However here is the result of this first try. And the wool that stood behind.

The warp is the structure.
When we look to an hand weaved work what pops out is the weft… the colours, the patterns and the shape. But none of those things really matter if the structure is wrong.

Note to self: Take care of the structure everything else will come after! :)
