Be still

On
June 30, 2015

"Being still, being quiet, listening Life everywhere…"
_

//

Yesterday I went to visit a village in the middle of Lisbon! I rang the doorbells and asked people what do they find beautiful in the place they live.
During this process I thought about what is the best world we could live in or the world we all dream about.

About the ability to listen what is beautiful to the other person and wait patiently until a dream emerge I realised that waiting for what is alive in the other can be a huge challenge but it's so important as we wish others to listen to what is alive in ourselves… And while I'm observing this I can notice that everyone wants to be listen too!

Actos aleatórios de Amor I

On
December 05, 2012

{photo by my dear and beautiful friend Ariane}

Hoje, eu estou infinitamente grata a quem me ama sem condições. Quem me cuida, mesmo quando me exige.

Hoje, eu sinto o meu coração enorme. Difícil de conter dentro do peito.

//

Every day I believe more that Love is an action.
Not only a beautiful word or verb. It's really an action!
So I don't know exactly if when someone says I love you is actually doing what it's being said. But I know that is something that it's only truly possible by doing.

Maybe some people think that love is a feeling. And it also is. But, I feel, Act for this feeling is Urgent!

Today, I am infinitely grateful to those who love me unconditionally. Who takes care of me,
even when demands from me. Who protects me, even when decides to leave the window open for me to fly. Who exchange dreams with me, with no expectation that I alone make them happen. Who remains, despite all my faults. And that might not even understand many of the things I am, but who accepts who I'm "being" in every moment.

Today, I feel my heart so huge. It's difficult to contain it inside my chest. Because in every breath I contain my love for you and for you and for you and for you and for you...

(to my friends and to my "strangers")

On
March 01, 2012

{photos by Bruno}

//

On the second day of hands-on, still with plenty to do, we dedicated not only to the Butterfly Garden but also to a blanket where kids could seat to read and we also had to developed part of the cookbook (which payback will enable the achievement of other dreams).

By this time, we were all exhausted, but our goals have been accomplished.

Monday, Teacher Ana made a balance of how the first Oasis Game in Lisbon went (this is new to all of us). The school
coordinator went to the classroom to congratulate the children and all the effort they did during the weekend (14 children of a class of 20 were with us during the two days and 7 parents also participated actively in some way) and although no other teacher in addition to Ana has been present at any stage of the process, eventually some of them gave in after seeing the results and went during the lunch hour to find some stones to make the garden even more beautiful.

This is still a work in progress (all of it). But it was a great shock of adrenaline and above all, as far as I'm concerned, a huge shock within myself in all matters... understand how kids understand so well the priorities of the world and their own and how they are willing to do anything to make what they believe in
happen.

We, all of us, are really the change we want to see! This is now so clear to me that sometimes it's even painful!

//

The Miracle is the moment that we accomplish our dreams in just one weekend.
On this first day we were all felling totally excited, expectant, curious, full of love and desire to build something.

The results just exceeded all expectations that I have had till far and I today I feel infinitely grateful for the big support of friends and family and people who had just met me but now appeared to be part of my life since a very lonnng time!

Thanks to all of you who contributed in some way to make these days so wonderful and full of good energy, love and joy.

(A special thank you to
Ana Albergaria, because without her none of this would have happened. To Mónica, Renata, Bruno, João and Sebastian for dreaming and get involved in this madness with me, and jumped into this project without fear. Thank you children and parents who went to school and bore the sun and fatigue during these two days non stop. And thank you friends and family visitors, who came for a few hours, but were essential to the all process. You know who you are and I will never forget you.)

Encontro de Energia

On
February 27, 2012

E brincam!

Obrigada Rosa e Susana!

//

I met Rosa a few years ago and some weeks ago as we talked about the Oasis, she told me about her desire to start working with children and give them energy (reiki).
I spoke with the school to understand if they would be open to receive such kind of "care moment" and before the hands-on, Rosa and Susana came to school and gave us this wonderful gift.

One interesting thing in the children (at least these kids) is that they do not question whether something is true or not. They simply feel. And let themselves flow with the experience as a whole. And try on each other. And play!

Thank you Rosa and Susana!

Choque de Amor

On
February 27, 2012

//

A little shock of love in school EB1 34.

 I had seen on Leo's facebook  this incredible demonstration of affection and was anxious to reproduce it here.
Of course it would have been better if we had gone to the street offering free hugs to the community, but we didn't have time for more. So we stayed at the school. We went in the classrooms and invited all the kids to come making dreams come true with us during the weekend, changing hugs for smiles. And some came... alone, by bus, completely open to change and to the uncertainty that was expecting them.

It's so good to be surrounded by children!

 ...

The biggest shock of love I had - perhaps one of the greatest of my life - it was on this day, after the whole class onfronted me with my distraction (I put 2011 instead of 2012 on the date of invitation to the hands-on...), Iuri (one of the kids) explained in the presentation of the oasis in the first classroom in which we entered, that "we" had made a mistake on the invitation. Assume that mistake for which I alone was to blame (for smaller or bigger that it might be) in a collective way, using "we" instead of "you" was one of the most generous things I have experienced so far!

Now! Still wishing to make this shock of love out of the school doors!

This weekend we reached the penultimate stage of the Oasis.

I invite all you readers to come be part of the Miracle: the materialization of 3 collective dreams, dreamed by the children.

On this side... a bit nervous, lots of enthusiasm and confidence that everything can only be okay.

The Dream!

Last week, with the huge help of Monica, Bruno and Renata, we collect the dreams that we'll try to accomplish on the February
25th and 26th. This week we'll build a model. We will start materializing and understanding what are the resources and the needs we have. Some results are already beginning to appear.

(For those who are trying to achieve dreams from home, I suggest that you begin building a model of this dream: you can use writing, collage, create in a smaller scale :))

Show de Talentos

On
February 02, 2012

Afecto.

::

The Affection. The Gathering of Talents.

There are moments in my life when I think, thankfully happiness doesn't kill! Yesterday, during the Talent Meeting, I lived one of those moments.

The Talent Show or Gathering is a presentation of what we do best.
(If we recognize our talents, we will certainly have more tools to accomplish our dreams.)

This was, during my journey through Brazil, one of the most beautiful and exciting moments that I experienced.
Honestly, I did not expect that here in Lisbon people could join in the same way or with the same enthusiasm. Of course that, to begin with, they couldn't, because "we" really are different and because we have different ways of expressing the same enthusiasm. But precisely because "we" are more closed, more resistant to the unknown and more difficult to reach, I think the success was even greater!

The children organized the best talent show that they could. They were the best version of themselves. They gave themselves completely and, with great pride, they showed what they do best to their family and friends.

Our fear (my fear and teacher's Ana fear): that parents wouldn't come and that the effort of the children weren't seen. But parents and friends came. With cameras and big smiles.

We already gave yesterday a major step in achieving at least one dream: inclusion, not segregation, self-worth.

(I leave you some pictures of the preparation process)

Afecto II

On
January 28, 2012

::

Listening to these kids talk about their talents and the talents of their parents/ family/ loved ones was very special.

Lately I have also tried to do this appreciative exercise with people around me. It has been interesting to note that this ability to be appreciative rarely works when we talk about ourselves. When we try to talk about us... discover beauty, resources and talents within us... mmm, there are endless questions, evasions and problems of expression. What's the exact time that our doubts overlap the confidence that we have  – as Peter, with 9 years old would say – "loads of talents"?!

This week's homework: prepare a gathering of talents. Prepare a party... a talent show. Next wednesday we will celebrate!!!

Afecto I

On
January 27, 2012

A imaginar mundos diferentes dentro deste.

::

The exercise of Affection leads us to seek talents and stories (ours and those of people around us).

Before presenting the exercise of affection we did in school this week, I reflect upon my potential talent. What is my talents? Where did it come from? How did it start? Why it makes me feel good?

So this is the talent I share.

I've always been good with crafts. It has always been my strong point, what distinguished me from the others, what made me feel special.
I'm not sure if because I have always been at schools that did not stimulate this particular area, with peers more competent in math and science – which allowed me to win every drawing contests and other things like that...
Do not really know when it started, but I remember that soon I began to paint the paper, the walls and my dolls. Reproducing what I saw with my crayons, using the scissors as tool. And imagining different worlds within this.
